What happens during menopause? Menopause is the stage of a woman’s life when her menstrual periods end, and she can no longer get pregnant. Your production of estrogen and progesterone will begin to decline when you reach your early 50s, but some women might experience symptoms as early as their mid-to-late 40s.

What are the symptoms of menopause? You can expect your periods to begin getting shorter, and you’ll know you’ve reached menopause when you go more than a full year without a period or spotting. Other common side effects include diminished energy and rapid mood swings, as well as hot flashes, incontinence, Insomnia, and night sweats.

How can I manage my symptoms? Every woman is different, and we’ll develop a treatment plan that best fits your body’s unique needs. It’s important to stay active as you enter your “golden” years, and regular exercise is a great way to maintain a healthy weight and relieve stress. You should also include plenty of leafy greens and calcium-rich foods in your diet and moderate your intake of caffeine and alcohol. And if you’re a smoker, quit now!

Getting older isn’t for the faint of heart, but it certainly beats the alternative! But you don’t have to go through menopause alone, and we’re ready to help you develop a personalized plan for a healthier, happier life! Contact us online or at (501) 227-5885 today to schedule a menopause care appointment or to find a trusted gynecologist Little Rock.
