October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026 is a global opportunity to raise awareness and make a call to action for improved access to timely diagnosis and quality care. The theme is “Every story is unique, every journey matters,” and it certainly resonates with our all-woman team at Central Clinic for Women! Each patient’s experience is different, and behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, and a unique journey!
We’re conveniently located on the Baptist Health Campus, and we’re a phone call away when you’re ready to learn more about 3D mammography in Little Rock! Our services also include maternity care, annual Pap smears, family planning, menopause treatment, and cervical cancer screenings. Annual mammograms are a crucial component of breast health, and it’s a simple outpatient procedure that typically takes less than an hour.
According to the
American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer affecting women in the United States. As with all cancers, early diagnosis is the key to optimal clinical outcomes. Unfortunately, a recent
survey found that although risk-factor awareness is generally high, significant gaps continue to remain between awareness and taking positive action to lower risk. Women aged 40 and up should begin scheduling mammograms as part of their annual woman’s exam, or earlier if they have a family history of cancer or present with other risk factors. About 20% of women between the ages of 30 and 39 are considered high risk, and it’s important to discuss your personal and family health history with your primary care doctor or OB-GYN to determine when to begin including 3D mammograms in your annual well-woman exam.
We’re proud to offer state-of-the-art 3D mammography, which involves taking multiple X-ray images of the breast to create a three-dimensional image. This enhanced imagery helps diagnosticians see beyond dense tissue and detect cancers that might otherwise be missed.
Clinical studies have shown that combining a 3D mammogram with a standard mammogram yields more accurate diagnoses than a standard mammogram alone, and combining both exams typically eliminates the need for follow-up imaging.
About
1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer during their lifetime, but patients have more than a 99% survival rate as long as the cancer is detected early!
