Why are annual exams for women so important?

Our all-woman team of healthcare professionals at Central Clinic for Women is committed to providing dedicated, compassionate care for women of all ages, and we’re ready to work with you and develop a holistic plan to help you live a long, healthy life! It all begins with your annual women’s exam, and we’re currently accepting new patients!
Our clinic is conveniently located on the Baptist Health Campus in Little Rock, and we can usually get you in and out in less than an hour. The exam typically includes a clinical breast exam, a pelvic exam, and other tests that the clinician deems medically necessary. Be sure to let us know about all prescription and over-the-counter medications you’re currently taking, as well as any health questions or concerns you have. Here are just a few of the reasons why an annual well-woman exam is such an important part of your long-term health:
Early detection and prevention of potential health issues—Breast cancer is the
second most common cancer affecting women in the United States, and early detection is the key to the best outcomes. We also strongly recommend annual mammograms for women 40 and up, or earlier if you have a family history of cancer. Your clinician might also choose to perform an ultrasound, urinalysis, or a pap smear to screen for cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV).
Reproductive health monitoring—During your exam, your clinician will perform a pelvic examination
of the vagina, cervix, and uterus to assess your sexual and reproductive health. We can also help you deal with fertility issues, menstrual irregularities, and menopausal symptoms. And if you’re not currently ready to add to your family, we can also help you choose the form of contraception that’s the best fit for you and your lifestyle!
Overall health evaluation—Your health is your most precious asset, and annual exams provide a snapshot of your overall wellness. Be sure to answer all medical history questions honestly, and feel free to ask us as many questions as you like. And our services don’t end once the exam is over. If you have any additional questions or experience any new or worsening symptoms after your visit, contact us right away for immediate follow-up!
