3D Mammography is a powerful weapon in the fight against breast cancer!

Our all-woman team of healthcare professionals at Central Clinic for Women is committed to providing the highest quality care for women of all ages, and it all begins with an annual well-woman exam! Women aged 35 and up should also begin scheduling mammograms as part of their annual exams (or earlier if they present with certain risk factors), and we’re proud to offer state-of-the-art 3D Screening mammography, which yields significantly more diagnostic information than traditional mammograms!
We’re conveniently located on the Baptist Health Campus, and we’re always a phone call away if you have any questions or are ready to schedule an appointment for an annual women’s health exam. Early detection ensures the best possible outcomes when it comes to treatment for breast cancer and other breast diseases, and we offer 3D screening mammography on an outpatient basis. The procedure is very similar to traditional mammography but takes slightly longer because it involves taking multiple images, or X-rays, of breast tissue to recreate a three-dimensional picture of the breast.
Clinical studies
have indicated that combining a 3D mammogram with a standard mammogram results in more successful diagnoses than a standard mammogram alone. One of the most significant limitations of traditional mammography is that dense breast tissues and cancer cells both look similar, making it challenging to obtain an accurate reading in the early stages of cancer. Combining 3D mammography with a standard mammogram enables diagnosticians to see beyond areas of density and detect cancers that might otherwise be missed and often obviate the need for follow-up imaging.
Your annual well-woman exam provides a snapshot of your overall health, and you should discuss your medical and family history with your doctor to determine when you should begin scheduling yearly mammograms. Don’t forget to also perform a monthly Breast Self-Exam (BSE)
approximately 7-10 days after each period, and if you’re no longer menstruating, perform your BSE on the first of the month or any other day you can easily remember. If you feel any thickening or lumps in your breast tissues during your monthly BSE or notice any unusual discharge, contact us for a follow-up exam immediately!
